Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef (at least 80/20 for flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • 1 packet (approx. 1 ounce/28g) taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water
  • 1 large bag (approx. 10-12 oz/280-340g) tortilla chips (sturdy restaurant-style recommended)
  • 2 cups (225g) shredded cheddar cheese (or a Mexican cheese blend)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) pickled jalapeños, sliced
  • 1 cup (240ml) sour cream
  • 1 cup (240ml) guacamole (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) salsa (your favorite kind)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) sliced green onions

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  3. Spread a layer of tortilla chips in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you may need to work in batches).
  4. Sprinkle half the cheese evenly over the chips, then spoon half of the seasoned ground beef over the cheese. Top with half of the jalapeños. Repeat layers.
  5. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 4-6 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Keep a close eye – air fryers vary!
  6. Carefully remove the nachos from the air fryer basket (it will be hot!). Transfer to a serving platter and top with sour cream, guacamole, salsa, cilantro, and green onions. Serve immediately.
