Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (454g) breakfast sausage, casings removed
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups (473 ml) milk
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) black pepper
  • 6 slices white bread, cubed
  • 2 cups (226 g) shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Crumble and brown sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add cubed bread, cooked sausage, and cheddar cheese to the egg mixture. Stir to combine.
  5. Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight).
  6. Uncover and bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. The internal temp needs to reach 165°F.
  7. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
