Ingredients:
- 1 pound (454g) breakfast sausage, casings removed
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups (473 ml) milk
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) salt
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) black pepper
- 6 slices white bread, cubed
- 2 cups (226 g) shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Crumble and brown sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, and pepper.
- Add cubed bread, cooked sausage, and cheddar cheese to the egg mixture. Stir to combine.
- Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight).
- Uncover and bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. The internal temp needs to reach 165°F.
- Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
