Ingredients:
- 2 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, combine diced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar. Toss gently to coat.
- Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. Spoon apple mixture onto the wide end of each triangle. Roll up towards the point.
- Place rolled dumplings in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, and water. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour sauce evenly over the dumplings in the baking dish.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
