Ingredients:

  • 2 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine diced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar. Toss gently to coat.
  2. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. Spoon apple mixture onto the wide end of each triangle. Roll up towards the point.
  3. Place rolled dumplings in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, and water. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour sauce evenly over the dumplings in the baking dish.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and the sauce is bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.
