Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (120g) finely shredded Asiago cheese
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 cup (180ml) whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup (60ml) olive oil
- 1/4 cup (30g) finely grated Asiago cheese
- Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and olive oil.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the shredded Asiago cheese.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape into a round loaf. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle the grated Asiago cheese on top of the loaf.
- Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
