Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (120g) finely shredded Asiago cheese
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 cup (180ml) whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) olive oil
  • 1/4 cup (30g) finely grated Asiago cheese
  • Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and olive oil.
  5. Gradually add wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the shredded Asiago cheese.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape into a round loaf. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle the grated Asiago cheese on top of the loaf.
  8. Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
