Ingredients:
- 2 and 3/4 cups (344g) all-purpose flour, spooned & leveled
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (16 Tbsp; 226g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup (70g) packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- - Vanilla Frosting
- 1/2 cup (8 Tbsp; 113g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 2 cups (240g) confectioners sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons (45ml) heavy cream or milk
- Seeds scraped from half of a split vanilla bean
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- When setting out to make these delicious cookies, remember to remove extra butter for frosting ahead of time.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a medium bowl, combine melted butter with granulated and brown sugars until smooth using a whisk.
- Whisk in the egg followed by the vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients mixing with a large spoon or silicone spatula until just combined. The dough will be thick but slightly crumbly.
