Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • [2 cups semisweet chocolate chips]

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy—about 3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix just until combined; be careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  7. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for about 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden but centers remain soft (they will continue cooking as they cool).
  9. Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheets for about5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
