Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted (113g)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (1.5g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5ml)
  • 2 large eggs (approximately 100g)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (60g)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) (85g)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Whisk until well combined and smooth.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. The mixture should be glossy.
  4. Gradually add the flour, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  7. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into 16 squares and serve.
