Ingredients:

  • 2 (20 ounce/567g) cans apple pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 (15.25 ounce/432g) box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Drizzle with caramel sauce.
  3. Evenly distribute the dry yellow cake mix over the apple mixture, covering it completely.
  4. Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix. Ensure the entire surface is moistened.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top for added texture and flavor (optional).
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with moist crumbs.
  7. Let the caramel apple dump cake cool slightly before serving.
