Ingredients:
- 2 (20 ounce/567g) cans apple pie filling
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
- 1 (15.25 ounce/432g) box yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Spread the apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of the prepared dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Drizzle with caramel sauce.
- Evenly distribute the dry yellow cake mix over the apple mixture, covering it completely.
- Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix. Ensure the entire surface is moistened.
- Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top for added texture and flavor (optional).
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with moist crumbs.
