Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened (226 g)
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed (200 g)
- ½ cup granulated sugar (100 g)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (10 ml)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (240 g)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (5 g)
- ½ teaspoon salt (2 g)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (170 g)
- ½ cup chopped nuts (optional) (75 g)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease the baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Evenly spread the batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set (a toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs).
- Allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into bars.
