Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk
- 1/2 cup (60g) sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup (15g) fresh chives, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the cubed butter to the dry mixture. Use a pastry cutter or forks to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the grated cheddar cheese, chopped chives, and minced garlic until evenly distributed.
- Pour in the buttermilk and gently mix until just combined. Do not overwork the dough.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill for 10 minutes for easier handling.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle and cut out biscuits using a cutter.
- Place biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are touching slightly. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Transfer to a cooling rack. Brush with melted butter, if desired.
