Ingredients:
- 2 cups (300g) Ripe Strawberries, hulled and diced 1/4 inch
- 1/4 cup (35g) Red Onion, finely minced
- 1 medium Jalapeño Pepper, seeded and finely minced (use 1/2 for mild heat)
- 1/4 cup (10g) Fresh Cilantro, roughly chopped
- 2 Tbsp (30ml) Fresh Lime Juice
- 1/4 tsp (1.25g) Kosher Salt
- 1 tsp (5g) Granulated Sugar or Honey (Optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Produce: Wash and dry all fresh ingredients thoroughly. Hull the strawberries and dice them into uniform 1/4-inch pieces. Finely mince the red onion and jalapeño (remove seeds and membrane for less heat).
- Combine Ingredients: Transfer the diced strawberries, minced red onion, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro into a large mixing bowl.
- Season and Mix: Pour the fresh lime juice over the ingredients. Add the kosher salt and the optional sugar or honey.
- Toss Gently: Use a spatula to gently fold and toss the mixture. Avoid stirring vigorously to prevent crushing the delicate strawberries.
- Adjust and Chill: Taste the salsa and adjust seasoning (salt, lime, or sugar). Cover the bowl and refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes to allow the flavors to marry.
- Serve: Give the salsa a final gentle stir before serving to redistribute any collected liquid. Serve immediately or within 4 hours.
