Ingredients:
- 2 lbs (900g) pork spare ribs or baby back ribs, cut into sections to fit your crockpot
- 1 tbsp (15ml) smoked paprika
- 1 tsp (5ml) garlic powder
- 1 tsp (5ml) onion powder
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) cayenne pepper (optional, for a little kick)
- 1 cup (240ml) your favorite BBQ sauce
- 1/4 cup (60ml) apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed (30 ml)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Generously rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated.
- Place the seasoned ribs in the crockpot, arranging them in a single layer if possible. You might need to stack them slightly if your crockpot is smaller.
- Pour the BBQ sauce and apple cider vinegar over the ribs. Sprinkle with brown sugar.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, or until the ribs are very tender and easily pull apart.
- For a caramelized finish, carefully remove the ribs from the crockpot and place them on a baking sheet. Brush with extra BBQ sauce and broil in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or grill for 2-3 minutes per side, watching carefully to prevent burning.
