Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) long-grain white rice
- 2 cups (475ml) water
- ½ teaspoon (3g) salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Place the rice in a fine-mesh sieve. Rinse under cold running water, swirling the rice with your fingers, until the water runs clear.
- Add the rinsed rice, water, and salt (if using) to the saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the saucepan tightly with the lid.
- Simmer for 18 minutes undisturbed. Resist the urge to lift the lid during this time.
- After 18 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
- After resting, gently fluff the rice with a fork. Serve immediately.
