Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) All-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp (25g) Granulated sugar
- 1 ½ tsp Baking powder
- ½ tsp Baking soda
- ½ tsp Fine sea salt
- 1 ½ cups (355ml) Full-fat buttermilk
- 2 Large eggs
- 4 tbsp (56g) Unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup Fresh strawberries, sliced into V shapes
Instructions:
- Combine the 2 cups all purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Whisking aerates the flour for a lighter batter.
- In a separate jug, beat the 2 large eggs into the 1 ½ cups buttermilk, then stir in the melted butter and vanilla.
- Pour the wet mix into the dry. Stir until just combined—a few lumps are totally fine.
- Let it sit for 5 minutes. Until you see small bubbles forming on the surface.
- Pour about half the batter into a squeeze bottle. This is for the detailed outlines.
- Set a non stick skillet over medium low heat and lightly grease with butter.
- Squeeze a heart outline onto the pan. Until the edges start to set slightly (about 15 seconds).
- Quickly fill the inside of the heart with more batter from the bottle or a small spoon.
- Cook for 2 minutes until bubbles pop and stay open on the surface.
- Flip carefully and cook for another 1 minute until golden and crackling on both sides.
