Ingredients:
- 2 (6-ounce/170g) salmon fillets, skin on or off
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15ml)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons honey (30ml)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 teaspoon)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (15ml) (low sodium preferred)
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (15ml)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (5ml)
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or green onions, for garnish
Instructions:
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the salmon fillets, skin-side down (if using). Sear for 4-5 minutes, until the skin is crispy and golden brown. If skinless, sear for 3-4 minutes until browned.
- Flip the salmon fillets. Reduce the heat to medium. Pour the honey-garlic glaze over the salmon.
- Cook for another 3-5 minutes, basting the salmon with the glaze frequently, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
- Garnish with chopped parsley or green onions. Serve immediately.
