Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (175g) steel cut oats
  • 4 cups (950ml) water
  • Pinch of sea salt (about 1/4 tsp, 1.5g)
  • (Optional): 1/2 tsp (1g) ground cinnamon
  • (Optional): 1 tbsp (15ml) maple syrup or honey (or to taste)
  • Your desired toppings (e.g., fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, brown sugar, milk or cream)

Instructions:

  1. Add steel cut oats, water, salt, and optional cinnamon (if using) to the Instant Pot.
  2. Secure the lid, ensuring the steam release valve is set to Sealing.
  3. Select Manual or Pressure Cook mode and set the timer for 5 minutes at high pressure.
  4. Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Then, carefully quick release any remaining pressure.
  5. Open the lid carefully. Stir the oats well. Stir in maple syrup or honey (if using).
  6. Serve immediately with your favourite toppings. Customize to taste.
