Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240ml) Ketchup
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Water
  • 1/4 cup (55g) Packed Brown Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Smoked Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) Ground Black Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Molasses (Optional)

Instructions:

  1. In the saucepan, whisk together ketchup, apple cider vinegar, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and molasses (if using).
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened slightly and the flavors have melded.
  4. Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more brown sugar for sweetness, vinegar for tanginess, cayenne for heat, or smoked paprika for smokiness.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
