Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) stout beer (e.g., Imperial Stout or Chocolate Stout)
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) stout for drizzling (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease the baking pan or line with parchment paper for easy removal.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir in sugar until well combined.
  5. Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  6. Add vanilla extract and stout beer, mixing well.
  7. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  8. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  9. Fold in chocolate chips, if using.
  10. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  11. Allow brownies to cool in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
  12. Cut into squares and enjoy, optionally drizzling with more stout.
