Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup (120ml) stout beer (e.g., Imperial Stout or Chocolate Stout)
- 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) stout for drizzling (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease the baking pan or line with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat.
- Stir in sugar until well combined.
- Whisk in the eggs, one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
- Add vanilla extract and stout beer, mixing well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips, if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow brownies to cool in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.
- Cut into squares and enjoy, optionally drizzling with more stout.
