- 1 1/4 cups (150g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (1 stick/113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (approx. 85g) chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or dark - your choice!)
Instructions:
- Heat-Treat the Flour: Spread the flour in a thin layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes. Alternatively, heat in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Beat in the milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the heat-treated flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Stir in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Chill (Optional): For a firmer texture, cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
