- 2 cups (240g) whole wheat flour (or gluten-free flour)
- 1/2 cup (125ml) unsalted peanut butter (preferably natural)
- 1/2 cup (125ml) unsweetened pumpkin purée
- 1/4 cup (60ml) low-sodium chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
- 1 large egg (or 1 flax egg for a vegan option)
- 1-2 tablespoons of fish oil (for Omega-3 fatty acids)
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon turmeric or cinnamon (for anti-inflammatory benefits)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and any dry supplements (turmeric/cinnamon if using).
- In a separate bowl, mix peanut butter, pumpkin purée, chicken broth, and the egg until smooth.
- Gradually incorporate the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into desired shapes using cookie cutters or a knife.
- Place the cut shapes on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until treats are firm and slightly golden.
- Allow to cool completely before serving to your dog.
