Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground turkey (preferably lean)
- 1/2 cup (50 g) breadcrumbs (dry or panko)
- 1/4 cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup (240 ml) marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
- In a bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, parsley, basil, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to help set.
- Form the mixture into meatballs (about 1.5 inches in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Serve with marinara sauce and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
