Ingredients:

  • 3 cups (710 ml) water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 cup (180 g) steel-cut oats, uncooked
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.5 ml) salt
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) brown sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In the slow cooker, add water, milk, steel-cut oats, salt, brown sugar (if using), and cinnamon (if using). Stir well to combine.
  2. Cover and cook on low setting for 7-8 hours, or until oats are tender and have absorbed most of the liquid. Don't lift the lid during cooking!
  3. In the morning, stir well to combine. Add more milk if needed to reach your desired consistency. Serve hot with your favourite toppings.
