Ingredients:
- 3 cups (710 ml) water
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 cup (180 g) steel-cut oats, uncooked
- 1/4 teaspoon (1.5 ml) salt
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) brown sugar (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
- In the slow cooker, add water, milk, steel-cut oats, salt, brown sugar (if using), and cinnamon (if using). Stir well to combine.
- Cover and cook on low setting for 7-8 hours, or until oats are tender and have absorbed most of the liquid. Don't lift the lid during cooking!
- In the morning, stir well to combine. Add more milk if needed to reach your desired consistency. Serve hot with your favourite toppings.
