Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450 g) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Zest of 1 lemon (optional for an extra citrus kick)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Trim and halve the Brussels sprouts.
- Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
- Once the oil shimmers, add the Brussels sprouts cut-side down in a single layer.
- Cook for 5-7 minutes without stirring until they are golden brown and caramelized.
- Add the minced garlic, sea salt, black pepper, and lemon zest (if using).
- Stir to combine and continue cooking for another 3-5 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and the sprouts are tender.
- Remove from heat and squeeze the juice of one lemon over the sprouts.
- Toss to coat evenly and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Transfer the Brussels sprouts to a serving platter, garnish with Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley, if desired.
