Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450 g) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional for an extra citrus kick)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Trim and halve the Brussels sprouts.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
  3. Once the oil shimmers, add the Brussels sprouts cut-side down in a single layer.
  4. Cook for 5-7 minutes without stirring until they are golden brown and caramelized.
  5. Add the minced garlic, sea salt, black pepper, and lemon zest (if using).
  6. Stir to combine and continue cooking for another 3-5 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and the sprouts are tender.
  7. Remove from heat and squeeze the juice of one lemon over the sprouts.
  8. Toss to coat evenly and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  9. Transfer the Brussels sprouts to a serving platter, garnish with Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley, if desired.
