Ingredients:

  • 2 medium boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 lb or 450 grams)
  • Salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon)
  • Black pepper to taste (about ½ teaspoon)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or unsalted butter (15 ml)
  • 1 cup chicken broth or water (240 ml)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon garlic powder or onion powder for extra flavor

Instructions:

  1. Sprinkle both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the chicken breasts to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth or water. Bring to a simmer, then cover with a lid.
  5. Let the chicken cook for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  6. Remove the chicken, let it rest for 5 minutes, then use forks or a hand mixer on low to shred the meat.
