Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) long-grain white rice (such as Basmati or Jasmine)
- 2 cups (475ml) water
- ½ teaspoon (3g) salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Place rice in a sieve and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear. (This removes excess starch for fluffier results.)
- Combine rinsed rice, water, and salt (if using) in the saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the saucepan tightly, and simmer for the recommended time (see below).
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 10-15 minutes. (This allows the rice to finish steaming and absorb any remaining moisture.)
- Fluff the rice gently with a fork and serve immediately.
