Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (946 ml) Water
  • 1 cup (180 g) Steel Cut Oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.5 g) Salt (or to taste)
  • Optional Toppings: Milk, Cream, Brown Sugar, Maple Syrup, Fresh Fruit, Nuts, Seeds

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, bring water and salt to a rolling boil over high heat.
  2. Gradually stir in the steel cut oats, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the oats are tender and most of the water is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. The oats should be creamy and have a slight chew. If too thick, add a splash of water. If too soupy, cook uncovered for a few more minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let sit for a minute or two. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
