Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs (680g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 cups (950ml) chicken broth or water
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) salt
- 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) black pepper
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) garlic powder, onion powder, or your favorite herb blend
Instructions:
- Place chicken breasts in the saucepan.
- Pour chicken broth (or water) over the chicken breasts. Ensure the chicken is submerged. Add salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings.
- Bring the liquid to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the chicken from the pot and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in more tender chicken.
- Shred the chicken using two forks, in a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, or with your hands.
- Use immediately, or store for later use.
