Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs (680g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 cups (950ml) chicken broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) black pepper
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) garlic powder, onion powder, or your favorite herb blend

Instructions:

  1. Place chicken breasts in the saucepan.
  2. Pour chicken broth (or water) over the chicken breasts. Ensure the chicken is submerged. Add salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings.
  3. Bring the liquid to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Remove the chicken from the pot and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in more tender chicken.
  6. Shred the chicken using two forks, in a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, or with your hands.
  7. Use immediately, or store for later use.
