Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (approx. 1.5 lbs / 680 g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (5 g)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper (2 g)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (2 g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce (240 ml)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese (170 g)
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (25 g)
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves, chopped (12 g)
  • Optional: Red pepper flakes (for a kick)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts, cooking for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  3. Place seared chicken in a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  4. Transfer the dish to the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).
  5. Remove from oven and top with fresh basil and optional red pepper flakes. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
