- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup colorful sprinkles
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until well combined. Gradually add the flour mixture, stirring until the dough forms.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
- Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place on baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart, and flatten slightly. Sprinkle colorful sprinkles on top.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
- Enjoy your soft sugar cookies warm or allow to cool completely before storing.
