Ingredients:

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup colorful sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until well combined. Gradually add the flour mixture, stirring until the dough forms.
  4. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  5. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place on baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart, and flatten slightly. Sprinkle colorful sprinkles on top.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  7. Enjoy your soft sugar cookies warm or allow to cool completely before storing.
