Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, measure out all of the spices.
  2. Add all ingredients to the bowl and mix thoroughly with a whisk or fork until well combined.
  3. Taste the seasoning and adjust to your liking. Add more cayenne pepper for heat, or more cumin for a deeper earthy flavor.
  4. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. It should last for several months.
  5. Use approximately 2-3 tablespoons of taco seasoning per pound of ground meat or vegetables. Add to the cooked meat or vegetables along with 1/2 cup of water (more or less, depending on desired consistency) and simmer until the liquid is absorbed.
