Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120ml) buttermilk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2-3 tbsp milk or cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Rainbow sprinkles for decoration
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate medium bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined; do not overmix.
- Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until donuts spring back when touched.
- Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk (or cream), and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Dip the cooled donuts in the icing or drizzle it on top, then immediately sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles.
