Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Rainbow sprinkles for decoration

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until donuts spring back when touched.
  7. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In a medium bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk (or cream), and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Dip the cooled donuts in the icing or drizzle it on top, then immediately sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles.
