Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Cooked jasmine rice or steamed rice
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Additional sliced green onions, for garnish
  • Fresh lettuce leaves, for wrapping

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, chopped green onions, and black pepper.
  2. Place the thinly sliced beef in a zip-top bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the beef, ensuring it's thoroughly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes, letting it brown before stirring, until cooked through and slightly caramelized.
  4. Remove from heat, garnish with sesame seeds and additional green onions. Serve with rice and lettuce leaves for wrapping.
