Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. Grate the fresh ginger and mince the 3 garlic cloves.
  2. In a small glass mixing bowl, combine the 1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce and 1/4 cup packed brown sugar. Whisk vigorously until the sugar crystals have completely dissolved.
  3. Stir in the 2 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, 1/2 tsp black pepper, and 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes. Whisk until the marinade is glossy and uniform.
  4. Pour the marinade over the beef in a sealed Ziploc bag or glass container. Massage the bag to ensure the meat is fully coated, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours (up to 12 hours) to tenderize.
