Ingredients:

  • Ice cubes
  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) Tequila (Blanco/Silver is recommended)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Amaretto Liqueur (e.g., Disaronno)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Cointreau (or other orange liqueur)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh Lime Juice
  • Lime wedge, for garnish
  • Salt or sugar for rimming the glass (optional)

Instructions:

  1. If desired, rim the glass with salt or sugar. Moisten the rim with a lime wedge, then dip it into a plate of salt/sugar.
  2. Add ice to a cocktail shaker.
  3. Pour tequila, amaretto, Cointreau, and lime juice into the shaker.
  4. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, until well chilled.
  5. Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice. Strain the margarita into the glass.
  6. Garnish with a lime wedge.
