Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces cooked turkey breast, sliced
  • 4 slices of whole-grain bread
  • 2 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 4 leaves of romaine lettuce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups turkey or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in flour until smooth and bubbly (about 2 minutes).
  3. Gradually add broth while whisking to prevent lumps.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Simmer until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Heat olive oil in a grill pan over medium heat.
  7. Place two slices of bread in the pan.
  8. Layer grilled turkey, cheese, and lettuce.
  9. Top with remaining bread slices and grill until golden brown (3-4 minutes per side).
  10. Remove sandwiches from the grill and cut them in half.
  11. Drizzle with warm gravy before serving.
