Ingredients:

  • 1 (5 ounce / 142g) can tuna in water or oil, drained
  • 2 tablespoons / 30ml mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon / 15ml finely diced celery
  • 1 tablespoon / 15ml finely diced red onion
  • 1 teaspoon / 5ml Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon / 2.5ml lemon juice
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 slices of bread
  • Optional: Lettuce, sliced tomato, cucumber, or sprouts

Instructions:

  1. Drain the tuna thoroughly. Flake it apart with a fork in the mixing bowl.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, celery, red onion, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the tuna.
  3. Gently mix all the ingredients until well combined.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Toast the bread to your liking.
  6. Spread the tuna salad evenly on one slice of toasted bread.
  7. If desired, layer lettuce, tomato, cucumber, or sprouts on top of the tuna salad.
  8. Place the other slice of toasted bread on top.
  9. Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
