Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) dried oregano, preferably Mexican oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) sea salt or kosher salt

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, measure out all the spices.
  2. Combine all spices thoroughly using a spoon or whisk.
  3. Taste the mix and adjust the seasoning to your liking. Want it hotter? Add more cayenne. Prefer it smokier? A touch more smoked paprika.
  4. Transfer the taco spice mix to an airtight container. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months.
