Ingredients:

  • 4 medium Russet potatoes (about 1.5 lbs or 680g)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and scrub potatoes under cold water. Cut them into even sticks (about ¼ inch thick).
  2. Place cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water. Soak for 30 minutes (this removes excess starch).
  3. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  4. Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  5. In a large bowl, toss the dried potato sticks with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings until evenly coated.
  6. Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve immediately.
