Ingredients:
- 4 medium Russet potatoes (about 1.5 lbs or 680g)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions:
- Wash and scrub potatoes under cold water. Cut them into even sticks (about ¼ inch thick).
- Place cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water. Soak for 30 minutes (this removes excess starch).
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
- In a large bowl, toss the dried potato sticks with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings until evenly coated.
- Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve immediately.
