Ingredients:
- 1 pound rib-eye steak or sirloin, about 1 inch thick
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 crusty rolls or ciabatta, split
- 1 cup arugula or rocket
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoons horseradish sauce or mayonnaise
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- Pickles (optional)
Instructions:
- Combine olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl. Rub the mixture over the steak and let it marinate for 10 minutes.
- While the steak marinates, slice the rolls and toast them lightly on a grill or in a toaster.
- Preheat the grill or skillet over high heat. Cook the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
- Remove the steak from heat and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Thinly slice the steak against the grain.
- Spread horseradish sauce or mayonnaise on the inside of the rolls. Layer sliced steak, arugula, tomato, and red onion in each roll.
- Optional: garnish with fresh parsley and pickles. Enjoy immediately while warm.
