Easy Sausage-Stuffed Dates Appetizer

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups prepared marinara sauce
  • 25 whole dates, pitted
  • 1/2 pound spicy Italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta, for garnish
  • 1/2 cup torn Castelvetrano olives, for garnish
  • Chopped fresh parsley and oregano, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and place a rack in the upper third of the oven.
  2. Pour the marinara sauce into a 10-inch skillet or a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  3. Stuff each date with about 1 tablespoon of raw sausage, allowing the sausage to mound out of the date.
  4. Arrange the stuffed dates in the sauce, with the sausage side facing up.
  5. Roast in the oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the sausage reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
  7. Just before serving, sprinkle with feta, olives, and fresh herbs.
  8. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
