Yield:12 smaller or 9 larger squares
Ingredients
- Nonstick cooking spray and softened butter for the pan
- 6 heaping cups Rice Krispie Cereal
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 (10-ounce) bag large marshmallows
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt, plus more to taste
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 bag candy corn (about 1 cup, adjust as desired)
- 2 1/2 cups salted peanuts
Instructions
- Lightly spray a 9-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Line with parchment paper, allowing it to hang over two sides, then butter the bottom of the paper.
- In a large bowl, add the Rice Krispie cereal and set aside.
- In a heavy-bottom saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to brown. Watch for it to foam and spit as the water cooks out.
- Just as the butter starts to brown, whisk in the sweetened condensed milk and stir until it starts to bubble.
- Add the marshmallows and salt, then remove from heat and pour over the cereal in the bowl, mixing well.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and press evenly into all sides using a spatula.
- While still warm and pliable, press a generous amount of peanuts and candy corn into the top.
- Allow the treats to set and cool at room temperature for a few hours before slicing.
- Once cooled, cut into squares and serve, or wrap individually and store at room temperature.
