Yield:12 smaller or 9 larger squares

Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray and softened butter for the pan
  • 6 heaping cups Rice Krispie Cereal
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag large marshmallows
  • 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 bag candy corn (about 1 cup, adjust as desired)
  • 2 1/2 cups salted peanuts

Instructions

  1. Lightly spray a 9-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Line with parchment paper, allowing it to hang over two sides, then butter the bottom of the paper.
  2. In a large bowl, add the Rice Krispie cereal and set aside.
  3. In a heavy-bottom saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to brown. Watch for it to foam and spit as the water cooks out.
  4. Just as the butter starts to brown, whisk in the sweetened condensed milk and stir until it starts to bubble.
  5. Add the marshmallows and salt, then remove from heat and pour over the cereal in the bowl, mixing well.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and press evenly into all sides using a spatula.
  7. While still warm and pliable, press a generous amount of peanuts and candy corn into the top.
  8. Allow the treats to set and cool at room temperature for a few hours before slicing.
  9. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve, or wrap individually and store at room temperature.
